Hi, my name is Bethsheba Johnson and I'm from Houston, Texas. So I have been coming to Belize. This is my third trip, no, fourth trip now. I came back in 2024 and I loved it so much I wanted to go back the following year, so I did. And I came again this year in July for my birthday and now I'm back because I truly want to buy a property here because I really love the culture. I love the people, the food. And I'm a sun and water person. So this is ideal for me. I looked at many countries. I've lived in a few countries. I've lived in Germany. I've worked in Ethiopia, Suriname. I've been in South Africa. So this place speaks to my heart. It really does. And I want to be a part of it.
And if there's something medical I could do, I want to do that because I am in the healthcare industry. Belize is building that infrastructure. So I found out just being here in July, I was driving through Placencia and there were RE/MAX signs everywhere. And I'm thinking, wow, the villa next door to where I was staying was for sale. It was like 1.1 million out of my league, but beautiful. And I said, well, why not? So when I went back home, I looked up, you know, had questions and Ruben reached out to me. If you don't know Ruben, you need to know Ruben. Ruben is charming, and he treats you like family. Ruben and Yanni are very patient.
You have to tell me a hundred times, but they will tell me a hundred times with a smile, and that's important to me because it's a different system of doing business. I've never done this before. [Unclear at 01:48] I've always purchased ones that were already built, brand new maybe, but never lived in. and I think they're doing a really good job in bringing me up to speed on what should be. And we use different titles for different terms and things like LLC for me. So yeah, I'm learning. I got to go down, Yanni drove the golf cart down and I got to stand on the property that I purchased. It's so exciting.
I got to look at the street I'll be living on and I could see where the canal behind the bushes. exciting. I'm 70 years old and I'm taking the risk. If I can do it, anybody can do it. It's an investment in yourself. It's an investment in your culture. It's an investment for everyone, whether you use it as an Airbnb property or make it your home. It's an investment and you're worth it. Take the risk. Talk to people like me. I talk to other people also. So I think that's important. So Yanni asked me if I could tell myself something in five years time, what would it be? And I would say, I'm a pretty bad woman. I'm no joke. I'm out here doing the most right now.
