“We don't want to change it. We want to add to the island and what it really is.”

— Brian & Nikki

Brian and Nikki came to Belize looking for a place where they could slow down, reconnect, and find the right setting for the next stage of their lives. After considering other destinations, they began researching Belize and quickly became drawn to its natural beauty, English-speaking community, and welcoming people. Much of their research happened before they ever set foot in Belize. Through YouTube videos and conversations with Will, they learned more about the island and the opportunities available here. By the time they arrived, they already felt connected to the community and had a clear idea of what they were looking for. Their conversations with Will helped narrow down their options and find a location that offered the privacy they wanted while still being close enough to Secret Beach and the surrounding community. For Brian and Nikki, their vision goes beyond simply owning property. They want to build a home that becomes part of the community and contributes to what already makes the island special. As they look toward the next stage of their lives, they hope to create a place that feels like home not just for themselves, but alongside their neighbors and the people who make Belize what it is.

We are from California. We're kind of between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. Beautiful little spot, right, and nestled in between the two. Although I've lived in big cities, actually both of us, we're actually very, I'm from a very small town in Central California originally. so the appeal to Belize for me it's the decompression part that we really like and [Unclear at 00:24] so it really is a place you just go you get off the plane and it's like and then you meet the people and it's just more so you become more relaxed as you you get here and it's just, I don't know, it's wonderful. I'm a fan. We had a trip last year to Cozum, or no, this year. It was this year. This year, I'm sorry.

To Cozumel, looked at property there. It didn't quite work out. We just wanted to keep our options open. So we looked down, I'm like, gosh, all the traveling I've done, I passed over Belize, understood, heard that it was beautiful. So I said, let's go down to Belize, you know? It has all the advantages that, you know, that everybody talks about. It's like, okay, beautiful, English-speaking, wonderful people. Those are definitely all advantages. It's something you want to be around. So it became, got on our radar about six months ago, maybe, something like that, six, seven months. She works at night, so I'm up all night just doing my research. I'm like, YouTube, YouTube. Oh, there's Will.

[Unclear at 01:34] I got familiar with everybody really quick and everybody's story. It was nice. like I became part of the community before ever even landing foot here. So, but the research that I put in got us more and more excited to be here and actually put our feet on the ground and start the process.

When I was doing the research, Will has quite a presence there and I said, you know he's he's great he's good with people he's his his content is very very informative we had a couple phone calls initially and FaceTime calls we met him had spoken to him enough and given him enough information to where that process of elimination we just took care of we don't want this you know we we're more private people I mean we could we could socialize but we would rather go to your social gathering rather than to be in the mix of it so him understanding that it was like okay not too close to secret beach but just close enough so he was amazing we want to make this place better we don't want to take from we don't want to change it don't want [Unclear at 02:52] talk to you know my people over here you get your people you know we want to get community we want to get good people here and we hope hopefully we just know good people but to add to the island and what it really is because it's very humble here very humble and very i don't know just there's we've been happy there's some really nice people here so they always have time for you yeah yeah they really do if there's one answer i think i think it's just building a home because we're you know we're in our 60s so for us to come here and go this is the next stage of our life we don't want to say our last stage but who's to know that right we would like it to be an extension of of just our last you know decades here and so we really want to build that up together and make it just home.

People just want to be like home. And that includes the people too, your neighbors, community, everything. It's just home.
