NBA veteran Reggie Bullock is building one of the most unique luxury hospitality projects in Belize real estate. In this exclusive tour of Bullock Island, we explore the private island villa, new beachfront resort villas, beach club, basketball court, and the vision behind one of the Caribbean’s most exciting Belize real estate developments.
Most people dream about owning a beachfront home in the Caribbean.
Reggie Bullock bought an entire island.
Just off the coast of Placencia, Belize, the longtime NBA player has been quietly building one of the wildest private island projects anywhere in the country — and after coming back for a second visit, it’s clear this thing has gone to another level.
The last time we were here, the house was still being finished, the basketball court had just gone in, and a lot of the vision still lived in Reggie’s head. Now? The island is starting to feel like a full-blown luxury resort.
New beachfront villas are going up. The beach club is taking shape. The bar is officially open to the public. And the entire property has evolved into something way bigger than just a vacation home.
According to Reggie, it all started after hearing about private islands from former teammate Dennis Smith Jr. That led him down a rabbit hole researching islands in the Caribbean until he came across this one in Belize.
And weirdly enough, the shape of the island mattered.
The island is shaped like a heart — the same name as one of his twin sons — and from that point on, the connection felt real. Belize embraced him, and he embraced Belize right back.
Fast forward a couple years later and what started as a private family retreat is turning into one of the coolest hospitality concepts in Belize.
Walking into the main villa feels less like a home and more like stepping into a luxury music video set somewhere in the Caribbean.
Everything opens toward the ocean.
Massive natural light. Wraparound balconies. Open-concept living spaces. Ocean views from basically every angle. Even the floors were custom-designed by an artist Reggie found through Instagram after seeing work done for artists like Rick Ross and Lil Baby.
But the craziest part of the house?
The “mega bed.”
Yes, that’s actually what we called it.
A fully custom-built 9-foot circular bed sitting directly in front of the Caribbean Sea. Reggie literally designed it so no matter which direction you lay down, you can wake up staring at the water.
Honestly… it might be one of the most ridiculous beds in Belize.
What’s interesting is that Reggie’s mindset around the island has changed over time.
Originally, the plan was simple:
build a private vacation home and enjoy Belize quietly with family and friends.
But after spending more time in the country, he started falling in love with hospitality itself.
Now the vision is much bigger.
The island is being transformed into a luxury resort experience with:
oceanfront villas,
private guest accommodations,
a beach club,
fitness and CrossFit areas,
basketball facilities,
entertainment spaces,
and luxury hospitality experiences.
And honestly, it makes sense.
The vibe out there is different.
You’ve got Caribbean water in every direction, mountains visible off in the distance toward mainland Belize, complete privacy, and sunsets that honestly don’t even look real some evenings.
One of the biggest additions since our last visit is the island bar, which is now officially open to the public.
So even if you’re not renting the full island experience, people staying in Placencia, Hopkins, or nearby areas can still boat over and experience Bullock Island for the day.
The signature drink right now is called “The Remarkable,” inspired by Reggie’s foundation focused on anti-gun violence awareness and LGBTQ advocacy.
And yes… the cocktails hit.
Seeing projects like this honestly explains why more athletes and entrepreneurs have started paying attention to Belize real estate.
Compared to many other Caribbean destinations, Belize still offers:
relatively low carrying costs,
privacy,
direct beachfront ownership,
strong tourism growth,
and opportunities to create truly unique projects.
Whether it’s private islands, boutique resorts, or luxury beachfront villas, there’s still room here to build things that feel original.
That’s getting harder and harder to find in more developed Caribbean markets.
One thing that stood out during the tour was how serious Reggie is about community involvement in Belize.
Basketball has opened doors for him his entire life, and now he wants to create opportunities for Belizean youth through camps, mentorship, and sports development.
The basketball court on the island isn’t just for flexing on YouTube.
It’s part of a much bigger vision.
Bullock Island feels like one of those projects that’s still early enough where people don’t fully realize what it could eventually become.
It’s luxury.
It’s entertainment.
It’s hospitality.
It’s basketball culture.
It’s Caribbean lifestyle.
And somehow it all works together.
